When you finally get that character from the banners, it’s time to maximize it to its full potential. In Honkai: Star Rail, this means leveling up, giving them a strong Light Cone, ranking up their Traces, and, most importantly, finding good Relics. You can achieve that by synthesizing, and Self-Modeling Resing is your best friend.
In spite of it’s rarity, the Resin is the most powerful item you can use when making your own Relics instead of dropping them. Here’s how to use it wisely.
How and Where to Use the Self-Modeling Resin in Star Rail
Self-Modeling Resin is an item obtained as a reward for reaching Level 40 at the free Nameless Honor battle pass. It can be obtained by all players, regardless of whether they have purchased BP. The Omni-Synthetizer lets you choose which Main Stat your Relic will have when crafting it.
The Customized Synthesis option allows you to spend one Self-Modeling Resin on creating a new Relic and select your desired Main Stat. Since HP and ATK are always fixed Main Stats, resin is not available for Head or Hand parts.
It’s much easier to make relics in Star Rail than in its predecessor Genshin Impact because you can choose what item you make. When you add Self-Modeling Resin to the mix, it makes finishing your build that much faster and easier.
Planar Spheres and Body parts have the most possible main stats, so you should use your resin on them. Planar Spheres, in particular, can only be obtained through Simulated Universe runs, and they usually have one particular Elemental damage type. Due to the fact that I never managed to drop a good resin, my first resin became a Quantum Sphere for Soul.

You can only select the main stats. Substats and how they level up are left to RNG. Oh, and Self-Modeling Resin is extremely hard to obtain.
Where to Get More Self-Modeling Resin
The paid version of Nameless Honor does not give you any extra resources, so don’t waste your time (unless you really need them). It’s one of the strongest items in the game, and it makes sense given its rarity.
