Chocobos return as mounts in Final Fantasy XVI/16 (FF16). Here we discuss how to obtain and how to ride a Chocobo. Obtaining a Chocobo allows Clive to travel much faster in the open world of Valisthea, avoiding monsters and completing side quests faster.
How to Get a Chocobo in Final Fantasy XVI
Talk to Rowan, a Traveling Trader in Martha’s Rest, to begin the quest.
You can get a Chocobo by completing the quest The White-Winged Wonder. You unlock this quest after completing the main storyline quest ‘Release.’ It takes place shortly after a very obvious Point of No Return, which the game points out to you, so don’t miss it.
A white Chocobo who has been helping those attacked near Martha’s Rest must be tracked down and then saved in order to complete this quest. After finding a white Chocobo feather at the first quest destination, press on to the next one to discover bandits harassing a small group of Chocobo, including your target white one.
Defeating the Chocobo poachers is not too difficult if you have Flames of Rebirth unlocked and equipped. Alternatively, you can take them out one by one, starting with the spellcasters in the back.
How to Ride a Chocobo in Final Fantasy XVI
While in the open, you can summon your Chocobo by pressing and holding the R3 button. Once a Chocobo is near you, press the X button to mount it. If you try to enter towns while riding a Chocobo, you will immediately dismount it.
