Despite being one of the most hyped FPS games of this year, CS2 has caused mixed feelings among the CS community due to its many benefits and shortcomings. While Counter-Strike has traditionally been available on a wide range of platforms, it appears that the newest version isn’t available on the platforms where it was previously available. Is it possible to play CS2 on a Mac?
On Mac, CS2 is not available. On October 11th and October 12th, 2023, Valve released a statement stating that the only supported platforms for CS2 would be PCs (exclusively for 64-bit Windows) and Linux. This shocked the Mac part of the CS community, which is not a small portion by any means. According to Valve, the Mac population is (was?) less than 1% of the total player base, so we can only conclude from the Steam Charts that between 5 and 15 thousand CS2 players play the game on a Mac all the time (approximately). It’s a bit harsh.
