The short answer is yes, you should accompany Gregor to the Capital after you finish the side quests in Melve. Taking the Oxcart with Gregor is a super safe way to reach Vernworth for the first time and it even leads to an easy fight with a tough Cyclops boss. If you haven’t seen one of them yet, having a caravan to back you up is a massive advantage. But getting to the Cyclops is just the start of the journey to Vernworth. After that battle, Gregor will give you yet another choice.
