Hi, my name is Donnie, editor of http://GameForce.blog. We are curators of fine video game resources. writers, authors, and engineers helping you understand the game. Welcome gamers, devs, & pubs ;)

I’m a solo developer that used unity for the majority. I ended up switching to Godot completely, but Godot has its problems and issues as well, a few controversies happening a few months ago ( the forum getting shut down, the community being a bit cult-ish, over 9000 open bug issues not getting fixed, important feature proposals being ignored, the engine itself having a few quirks to work around with, the 3D physics being bad ) I am not trying to switch to another engine again, defold, but I do want to make a few games with defold just out…

Hi, I’m a newbie gamedev from India. I’m trying to learn defold. Did all the tutorials from defold homepage and want to know a bit more advanced techniques. Where should I start ? If this post finds the eye of a veteran gamedev, please point me towards a good learning resource. I know its a bit unfair to just ask outright. But help a noob for the good karma! submitted by /u/umsee [link] [comments] Read More Defold Game Engine

I have a scene, “Map.tscn”, made up of a TileMap node. Attached to this node is a script, “Map.gd”. The code inside this script looks something like the following: extends TileMap func _init(tiles, width, height):# etc etc Basically, I made my own function inside this script to facilitate its initialization, since I expect there to be many more variables that I’ll have to initialize with later on. Then, in my game, I have some code that does the following: onready var map_class = preload(“res://Map.tscn”) func _ready():# some code to determine tiles, width, heightvar new_map = map_class.instance()new_map._init(tiles,width,height) I expected that this…
