There may be a problem occurring during Diablo 4 Season of the Malignant, in which players may find that their smoldering ashes disappear suddenly. Let’s take a look at what’s causing this bug and how to resolve it. You cannot get back the unspent Smoldering Ashes once they are lost. If you have changed world tiers or exited character select in order to lose them, they will not be able to be reclaimed.
When you lose smoldering ashes, what should you do?
- Exit to Character Select. Fortunately, there is a fix for this bug that can be found in the Character Select screen, which you can enter after exiting the game. We have confirmed that this fix still works in Patch 1.1.1 as well.
- Restart the Game. Besides exiting the character select screen and restarting the game, the bug can also be fixed by exiting the game completely and then starting it again after you have exited the character select screen.
