There have been a number of layoffs in the game industry this year, even among those who have not yet released a game. According to corporate registration documents, Thought Pennies, a remote game studio founded by mobile game industry executive Tim Ernst, has cut several employees.
A report of the supposed layoffs was first published on LinkedIn. Ken Capelli, Allison Carrier, and Kristen Halloran all posted that they had been laid off. Capelli and Halloran both mentioned that many former colleagues are also seeking employment. According to their LinkedIn profiles, all three developers worked at Thought Pennies until October 2023.
