Two teams of five would play a match that could last up to 30 rounds in the days of CS: GO’s regular competitive mode (MR16). A “Short” competitive mode (MR8) was introduced after feedback from a vocal part of the community concerned that these matches could be too long and exhausting. For players who did not have much free time to play CS, it was the ideal mode. There has been a change in CS2, and many players wonder if short-mode competitive or Premier matches are available in CS2. We are here to clear up any confusion.
In CS2, can you play a short competitive match or a premier match?
CS2 doesn’t have a short mode for Competitive or Premier matches at the moment. Valve has made a huge change with the release of CS2, in that all ranked matches are now set to MR12, which means that the team that wins 13 rounds first is the winner. In addition, overtime is introduced when the match is tied after both teams win exactly 12 rounds.
