In Palworld, as you level up, you’ll discover new storage containers in your technology tree! You gain more EXP by catching 10 of each Pal and by doing the work of your Base Pals.
Players are not happy with the current storage mechanic in Palworld. One player from the steam community says the following about the storage mechanic in Palworld:
Excluding the save bug the current situation with item storage and sorting is the biggest problem this game has. Pals putting and taking stuff from whatever chest happens to be closest makes finding things a hassle. Also the fact that none of the storage I have unlocked so far is any bigger than the wood chest also kind of is an issue. Most of the rest of the content has been good so far but storage is clearly where this game is lacking the most.
Here are some of the replies to thisdiscussion:
yeah, its why I built my actual base outside of the pal area. It’s a bit annoying at times, but at least I can keep my things organized the way I want them to be lol

The base lets you use all the resources in the chests I would just stick the boxes/chests right next to all the spots that produced items.
I think this could be solved fairly easily by making a “storage hub” building, that just gives you a readout of all your storage. The game already has a connected inventory, this shouldnt be to hard to implement – either as a mod or a base feature.

All resources are shared inside the base, so that’s a non issue.
The fact that none of the storage you’ve unlocked is bigger than the wooden chest means you haven’t played the game much. You unlock a larger chest pretty early.
If you can’t find something, then maybe you should learn how to plan out your base better. That way you’ll have an easier way to remember where you put certain items.
But since you’re so early game that really doesn’t matter too much.

It’s the issue in every slot based inventory system in existence. Which is why it should never be used for it. It’s an extremely outdated and lazy take on inventories.
—
Yeah as long as you place a chest nearby that station then most of the resources from that station end up in the right place.
I just want the ability to prioritize tasks for my pals so I can have those pals with multiple proficiencies focus on the one isntead of pulling the adhd move and constantly switching stations.

just so you know, things built outside of the palbox radius slowly degrade and break after a certain period of time. You don’t lose the resources or anything, but you’ll have to rebuild.
its just annpying they just throw stuff in the boxes and not take say a peice of wood to the box that already has wood in it i think thats every one’s problem

It’s better than similar games, like Ark and Conan, as well as Valheim. The inventory is linked for the base for construction and crafting, so you don’t have to manually find every resource and where you stored it (making people that invest tons of time either have labeled chests in a master storage building). Yes, you’ll still have to find certain items if you plan to relocate them to another base, or un-hoard items in your personal supply chests (like if you store your arms, armor and ammo and the Pals decide to fill it with stone and wood).
Could use work, yes, but better than the games it has branched off from (such as Ark, which is VERY similar in this regard).

It’s a bit of a hassle, but some things you could do in the meanwhile are filling up boxes you don’t want flooded with miscellaneous junk so new items can’t be deposited. Also putting boxes you want for certain resources near the main deposit helps a lot with pathing. It’s not perfect though, I have a couple chests on my second floor that no Pal should be trying to go to and I’ll constantly be finding a couple random stone sitting in them.
You might also want to try and build things on top of any naturally spawning rocks, trees or berry bushes so they don’t grow back and confuse your Pals even further. Or just build your base in an area that doesn’t have these things. I built mine on the landing to the right of the starting area and my transporters are constantly getting confused on what resource they want to carry and spinning in circles picking up and dropping berry seeds or rocks.

I checked all the wooden storage options and none were larger than the wooden chest. Maybe there is some stuff later but I am only at like lv 15 right now.
—
+1 That and they don’t take food to refrigerated boxes. Private chests would also be nice.
—
The thing is, though, it seems they are able to see feed boxes as food storage and prioritize them for dropping off harvested crops. So the programming is there, it just needs to be refined.
—
I don’t think so. I also cant seem to build more than one base…
